Stylishly dressed travellers outside a bar in Paris before a pub crawl

What Should I Wear to a Pub Crawl in Paris?

If you are joining a pub crawl in Paris, the dress code is usually much simpler than people expect. After more than three years of organizing pub crawls and welcoming over 10,000 guests, the same advice still works: dress the way you would for a casual night out with friends, stay clean and respectful, and avoid looking like you are coming from the gym or the beach.

How this guide was created

This guide combines direct hosting experience, recurring guest questions, booking patterns, guide feedback and official Paris and transport sources. Details are reviewed when the route, offer or local conditions change.

My simple rule

Dress as if you were meeting your friends for a night out. Casual clothes are usually the safest choice. You do not need luxury brands or a special club outfit.

What clothes should you avoid?

Avoid football jerseys, sportswear, athletic tracksuits, shorts, flip-flops and sandals. These outfits are more likely to cause problems on busy weekends, at club entrances or during special events.

  • Best safe choice: clean casual clothes
  • Higher risk: sportswear or beachwear
  • Always bring a valid physical ID for the final club

What should men wear?

Jeans or chinos, a clean T-shirt, polo or shirt, sneakers and a light jacket are usually perfect. A simple, neat outfit works better than trying too hard.

What should women wear?

Wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. A casual dress, jeans with a nice top, trousers, boots or clean sneakers are all usually fine. High heels and designer items are not required.

Are sneakers allowed?

Yes. Nike, Adidas, running shoes, white sneakers and many fashion sneakers are generally accepted. The main issue is not sneakers themselves, but an overall outfit that looks too athletic or messy.

Can you still be refused?

Yes. The final decision always belongs to the nightclub's security team. Behaviour, attitude, level of intoxication and overall appearance often matter more than expensive clothes. If we think an outfit may become an issue, we tell guests honestly before the club entrance.

Backpacks, coats and winter advice

Guests are responsible for their belongings. Many venues offer a cloakroom for about €2 per item or around €4 for a larger bag. In winter, wear a warm coat and bring an umbrella if needed. You can usually leave your coat in the cloakroom once you arrive.

The biggest myth

The biggest myth is that you need luxury brands or a glamorous outfit to join a Paris pub crawl. You do not. A clean casual outfit, respectful behaviour and a good attitude are much more important.

  • Never try to bribe a bouncer
  • Be patient and polite
  • People will remember the night, not the label on your clothes

Final thoughts

Be yourself, as long as it is respectful. The goal is to feel comfortable, enjoy the group and have a smooth entry into each venue. In the end, people will remember the friends you made and the memories you created more than what you wore.

FAQ

Questions travellers ask

Can I wear sneakers to a pub crawl in Paris?

Yes. Clean sneakers are generally fine. Problems usually come from an outfit that looks too much like sportswear.

Do I need to dress up for a Paris pub crawl?

No. Smart casual is enough for most pub crawls. You do not need luxury brands, formal shoes or a nightclub costume.

Can a club still refuse me even if I follow the advice?

Yes. Final entry always depends on the venue's own rules, security decision, your behaviour and how busy the night is.
